Have you ever wished you could upgrade your cabin on a cruise? Now Princess Cruises gives you the chance. You can now bid to upgrade your cabin at the price you want to pay.

Starting September 6, in partnership with PlusGrade, guests can get a coveted upgrade to Ocean View, Balcony, Deluxe Balcony, Mini-Suite, and even a Full Suite.

“Upgrading is a popular request from our customers and we are pleased to provide a process that allows them to upgrade their cabin category by making an offer that fits their budget and lifestyle,” said John Padgett, president of Princess, in a press release.

How does the Princess upgrade work?

The bidding process for a stateroom upgrade is quite simple and straightforward. First, verify that your cruise is eligible to bid on an upgrade. Once your sailing is in the final payment period and full payment has been received, you will receive an invitation to participate in the program.

Then you can view available upgrade options and place your bid to upgrade your stateroom to a stateroom above your currently booked suite. We encourage you to make multiple offers on cabins to increase your chances of being upgraded and you will only pay for one.

If your upgrade request is approved, you will be notified by email. If your offer is accepted, you will be charged for the upgrade. Otherwise, it’s always a win-win. You will simply enjoy the cabin you already have and you will not be charged any additional fees.

Your bid is priced per person and based on two guests per stateroom. The third and fourth passengers in a cabin are upgraded at no additional cost.

    Auction Eligibility

The upgrade option will begin on five North American-based ships: Caribbean Princess, Discovery Princess, Enchanted Princess, Regal Princess, and Ruby Princess. It is planned to deploy the entire fleet by the end of October.

You must be 21 or older to submit an offer. Your reservation must be paid in full and travel must be at least 5 days prior to final payment. For a cruise of 5 days or less, final payment is due 75 days before departure and auctions open 70 days before. From 6 to 14 days, final payment is due 90 days prior, with auction opening 85 days prior. If sailing for more than 25 days, final payment is due 120 days prior to sailing with the auction opening 115 days prior.
