IPW Construction Wins Tender Process for Hanahan Intersection Project | Berkeley Independent
Berkeley County Council recently selected IPW Construction of North Charleston to realign the intersection of Foster Creek Road with Tanner Ford Boulevard in Hanahan during the August session of the governing body.
The approximately $2.35 million project will readjust the “T” shaped intersection of Foster Creek Road and change the southern portion of Foster Creek Road into the intersection’s new “stop condition”, according to a recent statement from the county council. The expected end result will be better traffic flow by prioritizing the busiest movement and creating safer conditions for making turns.
Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2023. The initial phase will include a six-month utility relocation period, followed by 11 months of construction. 2014 Penny Tax Referendum Funds Improvement Company, as bids were received on August 15th.
Berkeley County Supervisor Johnny Cribb commented on the upcoming realignment, adding, “We are excited to have this critical intersection improvement project move into the construction stage. With increased density in the community of Tanner Plantation/Foster Creek and the recent addition of Bowen’s Corner Elementary School this project will significantly improve traffic flow and safety in the area.”
