5G Spectrum: Adani Group Confirms Participation in Open Tender Process

Adani Group confirmed on July 9 that it was one of several applicants participating in the open bidding process for 5G spectrum services. However, the group said its intention was not to be in the consumer mobility space.

“We are participating in the 5G spectrum auction to provide private network solutions as well as enhanced cybersecurity in airport, ports and logistics, power generation, transmission, distribution and various operations of manufacturing”, he said in an official press release.

Apart from this, the group said that if it was awarded 5G spectrum through an open tender, it would also align with its recent announcement of a significant increase in investment from the Adani Foundation. in education, healthcare and skills development in rural areas.

Among other things, Adani Group said it would require very high-quality data streaming capabilities through a high-frequency, low-latency 5G network across all of our businesses.

Earlier on July 8, several reports claimed that billionaire Gautam Adani’s group was considering making a surprise entry into the race to acquire 5G spectrum, competing with Mukesh Ambani’s Jio and Sunil Bharti Mittal’s Airtel.

Applications to participate in the July 26 5G auction closed on July 8 with at least four applications.

Earlier, the Ministry of Telecommunications clarified in its rules for inviting applications that a new entity can apply for spectrum as long as it is committed to obtaining the unified license to provide access services or mobile services and /or data in any part of the country.

“Any entity that agrees to obtain a Unified License with Authorization for Access Services through a New Nominee pursuant to DoT license guidelines/conditions may bid for spectrum,” the department said. in the notice inviting applications.
